Cricket's three formats and major tournaments

Just as cricket fans in Bangladesh enjoy different formats on the field, vajee offers the same variety in betting. The three formats differ in nature and strategy, so the betting markets differ too.

T20 Cricket

This 20-over format moves fast. A single six or wicket can shift odds dramatically. This format is most common in leagues like BPL and IPL.

BPL IPL T20 World Cup
🏏

ODI Cricket

Strategy matters more in this 50-over format. Odds change across different phases — powerplay, middle overs and death overs. This format is standard in the ICC World Cup and bilateral series.

Test Cricket

In this five-day format, match winner, series winner and innings betting are popular. The pace is slower but there are more betting options. Live markets for Tigers Test series are available at vajee.

Football and other sports — what is the difference?

Alongside cricket, vajee also has betting markets for football. In football, match winner, goalscorer and handicap markets are popular. The difference from cricket is that in cricket every ball is a new event, so in-play odds change much faster.

In a 90-minute football match, fewer goals mean odds change more slowly by comparison. In cricket, factors like the toss, pitch conditions and batting order can shift the betting picture entirely. This variety is why cricket betting is the most popular choice among sports fans in Bangladesh.

Always treat betting as a form of entertainment. If you want to know the rules, full details are available on the terms and conditions page.

Popular betting markets — what you can bet on in each

Several markets are open at the same time for cricket betting at vajee. Below is a description of the seven most commonly used markets.

Market How it works Example
Match Winner Predict which team will win the full match. In a T20 match between Team A and Team B, choose Team A.
Toss Winner Bet on which team will win the toss before the match starts. Bet on Team B winning the toss.
Top Run Scorer Which batter will score the most runs in an innings. Which batter will score the most runs in Team A's innings.
Total Runs Over/Under Whether the total runs in a set number of overs will be above or below a specific number. Whether total runs in the first 10 overs will be over 70.
Multi Bet Bet on multiple markets at once — you need to win all selections to get the full return. Picking the match winner for three matches together raises the combined odds, but losing even one means the entire bet is lost.
First Wicket to Fall At what run total the first wicket of an innings will fall. Whether Team A's first wicket will fall before or after 30 runs.
Top Wicket Taker Which bowler will take the most wickets in the full match. Predict which bowler from Team B will take the most wickets.
21+ — all betting at vajee, including cricket betting, is for those aged 21 and above. Betting is a form of entertainment — play responsibly. Visit the responsible gaming page to learn more.

How to read odds — a comparison of three formats

In betting, odds represent your potential return. The same odds can be written in three different formats — Decimal, Fractional and American. vajee generally uses the Decimal format, but understanding all three helps on any platform.

Example 1 — the same odds in three formats:
Team A wins — Decimal 3.00 = Fractional 2/1 = American +200.
A ৳1,000 bet returns ৳3,000 if won (৳2,000 profit + ৳1,000 original stake). If lost, ৳1,000 is gone.

Example 2 — favourite's odds:
Team B wins — Decimal 1.50 = Fractional 1/2 = American -200.
A minus sign in American format means that amount must be staked to make ৳100 profit. A winning ৳1,000 bet returns ৳1,500 (৳500 profit).

Regardless of the format, the calculation is the same — stake multiplied by decimal odds equals total return. The higher the odds, the higher the return, but the lower the probability.

Combining three selections in a multi bet gives combined odds of 1.40 × 1.50 × 1.80 = 3.78 (approximately). A ৳100 bet returns ৳378 — but if even one of the three does not win, the full ৳100 is lost.

Live in-play betting — odds change during the match

In-play betting at vajee means placing a bet while the match is in progress. Odds are recalculated after every ball. When a wicket falls, the batting team's odds drop; when runs come in a big over, the fielding team's odds rise.

Real-time odds

Odds update after every delivery. When a wicket falls, the market changes in an instant.

Over-by-over markets

A separate market opens for each over — you can bet on total runs, a maiden or a wicket.

Read the match situation

Pitch conditions, the dew factor and batters' form — this information is useful for in-play betting.

Cash out option

Lets you close a bet early during the match to secure a certain profit or reduce a loss.

There is less time to decide in in-play betting. So familiarise yourself with the markets beforehand and stay within a set budget. Read more about responsible betting.

Some practical advice before you bet

1

Set a budget first

Before each session, decide how much you are willing to spend. Do not go beyond that limit even if you lose.

2

Not everything on one match

Spreading small bets across several matches is far more sensible than placing a large bet on a single match.

3

Knowing the market helps

Match winner is a straightforward market, but understanding total runs or top batsman requires cricket knowledge.

4

Treat it as entertainment

It is better not to expect regular income from betting. Enjoy it as an added part of watching the sport.

5

Know the rules

Before placing a multi bet or an in-play bet, read the rules for that market. Common questions are answered on the FAQ page.

Questions about cricket betting

Here are direct answers to the questions new users ask most often about cricket betting at vajee.

T20 is fast-paced, so odds shift in an instant — in-play betting is most active here. In ODIs, 50 overs give more room for strategy, making over-under markets popular. Test matches run for five days, so series winner and innings betting are more common. The match winner market stays open in all three formats.

You can place a bet even after the match has started — that is in-play betting. Odds are recalculated after every ball. When a wicket falls, the batting team's odds generally go up; when a big over is scored, they come down. At vajee, in-play markets update directly on screen.

All major markets are available for BPL and IPL — match winner, toss winner, top run scorer, total runs over/under, first wicket to fall and multi bet. In-play markets also stay active during the match.

A multi bet combines several selections together, so the combined odds are higher and the potential return increases. But if all selections are not correct, the entire bet is lost — one wrong selection is enough. Adding three selections at 1.40, 1.50 and 1.80 gives combined odds of around 3.78 — a ৳100 bet returns ৳378.

If a match is cancelled or left incomplete, a decision is usually made according to the betting rules. If a set number of overs have not been completed, many markets are declared void and the stake is refunded. Full rules are available on the terms and conditions page.
